Jareth the Goblin King (or simply Jareth) is a fictional character portrayed by David Bowie in the 1986 musical fantasy film Labyrinth, directed by Jim Henson. Jareth is king of the goblins and and ruler of the Labyrinth, he also reigns over the fairies, dwarves and various creatures that dwell in the Labyrinth.
Background[]
Jareth the Goblin King is a character in Labyrinth. He is the ruler of the goblins, hence the title.
Jareth makes his first appearance in the movie when the main character, Sarah, a young girl who loves a book about him, the Goblins, and the Labyrinth, wishes her baby stepbrother, Toby, away.
He gives Sarah thirteen hours to make her way through his Labyrinth, and save Toby before he gets turned into another of his goblins.

- He has the ability to transform into a barn owl, a form in which he appears in during the beginning and end of Labyrinth.
- Though he is the goblin king, he is not a goblin for unknown reasons.
- In an early draft of the Labyrinth script however, he turned into a goblin when Sarah rejected him.
